Our contact with the clinical and pharmaceutical world allows us to select excellences both in terms of ideas and project development capabilities; all to give value and longlasting duration to research projects.
Currently Diadema develops different projects and products in various therapeutic areas.
Ophthalmology
Many therapeutic solutions are in development both starting from the qualitative and quantitative composition and from the pharmaceutical form (eye drops, wipes, sprays, other). The unmet needs of doctors and patients are still very high in this therapeutic area. The main lines of research that arise from Diadema's collaborations involves natural molecules and molecules normally produced by the body of human beings and phytotherapeutic extracts. Extremely interesting is also the line of research concerning the interactions between intestinal microbiota, bacterial population of the skin and chronic / degenerative diseases of the eye. Also in this area, scientific research is being enriched with new and important evidences that testify that working on the intestinal microbiota can have important beneficial effects on the eye apparatus both in the short and long term.
Gastroenterology and Metabolism
Diadema is developing a wide range of products and therapeutic proposals in these therapeutic areas. The products under development concern extracts of essential oils for the rebalancing of the microbiota, products for fatty liver disease and products active on metabolism. In recent years, gastroenterology has been assuming a central role in the evolution of medicine by virtue of two important aspects in scientific development: the gastrointestinal system brain axis and the impact of the intestinal microbiota in a large number of pathologies, many of which degenerative ones. There are also some products under development relating to the correction of metabolic malfunctions and pathologies related to the aging of metabolic processes.
Gynecology
The gynecological area has always been an area of medicine of great value and interest. For the fertility. For the microbiological and infective implications. For the implications related to the functioning of the female body. Diadema is currently engaged in the development of some products relating to the microbiological sphere, the metabolic sphere and the interaction of the gastrointestinal system in women with the rest of the body. In the belief that the correction of these pathological and metabolic factors can give quality of life and additional well-being. Gynecology has always been one of the indicators more valuable of the quality of medical care and research in developed countries.
Urology
Medicine of the urological system and the male sexual system have been experiencing a growing scientific attention in recent decades. This branch of medicine concerns both anatomical and metabolic aspects as well as aspects concerning infectious diseases. There are numerous products under development in this area that are trying to meet these needs, starting with anti-infectives. The prostate as organ is one of the most important and difficult organs of the human body to treat due to its characteristic of low penetration of all chemotherapies and antibiotics. Diadema has an important line of research relating to products that can meet this important and unmet medical need.
Cardiovascular
The cardiovascular area is traditionally one of the most studied sectors of medicine because of its impact on people's lives. The heart / vessels system and all communications with the other organs and systems of the human body have always been the subject of research and innovation in the medical field. Thanks to these researches and thanks to uncountable therapeutic products, research has obtained an increase of length of human life and its quality. In this area, Diadema’s R&D is developing various treatments involving metabolism, blood pressure and blood cholesterol levels. Also very interesting in this area is the interaction between intestinal microbiota and metabolism, absorption, general inflammatory state of the subjects.
Neurology
Following also the lengthening of the average life espectance, pathologies in the neurological area have grown significantly in recent years, both in the cognitive and degenerative areas in a broader sense. Current treatments offer many solutions but there remains a very high medical need for more effective and innovative therapeutic approaches. In this area, Diadema is activating collaborations for the development of several products. These are still young collaborations, for very promising treatments, which in the coming months will be put to clinical trials to measure their therapeutic value.
